The Fountainhead and the Everlasting River of Future Grace

Romans 8:31-34 ESV  What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  (32)  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?  (33)  Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.  (34)  Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

GRACE: “GOD’S RICHES AT CHRIST’S EXPENSE”

Romans 5:6-11 ESV  For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  (7)  For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die--  (8)  but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  (9)  Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.  (10)  For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.  (11)  More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

4 Questions Pointing to the Fountainhead of Future Grace

1. If God is for us…then who (or what) can successfully be against us?

(Num 14:9)  Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them."

(Jos 10:42)  And Joshua captured all these kings and their land at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.

(Psa 27:1)  Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall.  Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

2. If God gave His son for us…then what good thing will he withhold from us?

Heaven’s logic – from the greater to the lesser (from the harder to the easier)

(Joh 3:16)  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

(Psa 84:11)  For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

(1Co 3:21-23)  So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours, and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

3. If God has justified us…then who can bring a charge that will stick?

(Rom 3:26)  It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

The accuser of the brethren will attack.

4. If Christ is interceding for us…then who will successfully condemn us?

(Heb 4:14-15)  Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

(Heb 7:25)  Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

(Heb 9:24)  For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

(1Jn 2:1-2)  My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

(Rom 8:1)  There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
